Beauty Inspiration from London Fashion Week

//Beauty Inspiration from London Fashion Week

Now that London Fashion Week has drawn to a close, it is the perfect time to look back on all of the shows and identify the different fashion and beauty trends that were seen. The abundance of creativity, innovation and style from such talented designers and industry insiders is not only focussed on the clothes, but also offers some great beauty inspiration.

The runways at London Fashion Week were filled with many fresh faced models, looking effortlessly chic. Having perfectly flushed cheeks without looking as though you’ve piled on the makeup is key to achieving this look. Before applying any products to your face, make sure you prep your skin completely, as this will mean that you won’t need to use as much makeup. For a quick and easy fresh faced look, invest in a high quality tinted moisturiser, which will give you a glow whilst keeping your face looking light and natural.

With your face looking fresh, it is best to keep your eyes looking the same way too. Stay clear of dominant lines and shades, and choose earthy colored eyeshadows and brown eyeliners. Draw a light smudgy line with a brown eyeliner pencil underneath your eyes, and keep your eyebrows groomed but slightly boyish. As the makeup artist from Sisley said, “this girl is quietly confident, self-assured and doesn’t care too much about perfection”. For eyeshadow, stick to subtle pastel colors and muted eggplant shades, which will add a hint of color without being too overpowering.

London fashion week models walking in a showAnother trend that was seen across catwalks, and that provided some great beauty inspiration when it comes to a glamorous look, was a gorgeous, dark, glossy lip. The models at Julien Macdonald’s show, as well as at the Roksanda show, had perfectly finished lips in a deep claret or burgundy shade. This look is an easy one to do at home as all you need to apply is dark lipstick and a few layers of a super shiny plumping lip gloss on top.

All of the models sported gorgeously manicured nails, but the best nail color that week was a pale lavender shade. This went well with the fresh and young theme, and looked stylish but relaxed at the same time. The models walking for Holly Fulton were wearing L’oreal’s Nouvelle Vague shade of polish, which is an easy one to find if you want to recreate the look.

In addition to the amazing clothes and beautiful makeup, there was also much inspiration to be found in the different hairstyles seen on the models. Effortless and low-key were the main themes behind most of the hairstyles, which is great news for those who don’t have as much time to spend on their hair each morning. Dishevelled hair, low ponytails and messy buns were seen all over the catwalks, creating a sense of natural simplicity whilst highlighting the subtly of the makeup.

London Fashion Week always provides such great inspiration, as well as a whole range of different trends for the coming season. Rather than completely following a trend, find ways to be inspired by different elements of it and practice some methods of working it into your own personal style, so that you can end up with a look that is truly yours.
