Whenever the time comes to plan your next vacation, it is almost inevitable that your decisions will be affected by some of the many travel myths that you would have heard over time. In order to make planning your trip slightly less stressful and confusing, OROGOLD Cosmetics gathered together, and debunked, some of the top travel myths that many people believe to be true.
Traveling always costs more during the holidays
Whilst it is true that flight prices are often higher during the holidays, this isn’t necessarily the case when it comes to accommodation. Around 50% of holiday travelers stay with family and, with business travel not as busy during the holidays, many hotels have trouble filling all of their rooms. So, although the rooms at the most popular hotels and resorts may be hard to come by and double the price, there are likely to be plenty of other hotels that are offering more affordable rooms. In terms of destinations, Europeans travel less than Americans during the holidays, so there are many bargains to be found throughout Europe.
It is always cheaper to book in advance
Booking your vacation six months in advance will usually be cheaper than booking it just a month in advance. However, if you have left your holiday planning to the last minute, and can be slightly flexible in terms of when you travel, there are still ways to grab a good bargain. Many resorts and hotels offer late availability deals, with rooms that have ended up empty due to cancellations or changed reservations, and these usually get much cheaper the closer they are to the date of travel. If you can’t find any on their website, they will usually give you these deals over the phone.
Traveling alone will be lonely
If you usually travel with friends or family, the idea of traveling on your own may not excite you much at first, but, these days, an increasing number of people are choosing to travel alone. Traveling on your own means that you get to go and do whatever you want, whenever you want, and, if you are in the mood for company, it is usually not hard to find.
It isn’t safe to drink the water/eat the food
When it comes to travel health, it is always best to thoroughly research the area that you are planning to visit, as you may need certain vaccinations or medication. Although there are certain parts of the world where it is unsafe to drink tap water, this can be easily overcome by boiling it for at least a minute, or by using a filtration system. There is usually also always bottled water available that you can drink. When it comes to food, street food can often be a problem for tourists, but, again, it depends on the country you visit, and you will usually find that street food stalls have the freshest food since they have a high turnover.
When planning your next vacation, ORO GOLD recommends you to keep in mind that certain ideas that you may have in your head about a particular place may be due to a misconception rather than the truth. The internet is the best tool to use for researching current, up-to-date information about every travel destination, as well as for reading about the experiences that other people have had when traveling to the same place.
