Whether it’s taking a gamble at one of the many casinos or strolling down the Strip, there are some things in Las Vegas that just about every visitor does at least once. However, if you’ve done all of the usual tourist activities and are looking for something more unique, OROGOLD has put together a list of unexpected Las Vegas activities.
Take a Dip in a Natural Hot Spring
For those of you looking for a fun and unusual outdoor activity to do in Las Vegas, OROGOLD highly recommends hiking to the Gold Strike Hot Springs. The hike is, without a doubt, one of the best in Vegas, and the natural hot springs are the perfect reward at the end of it and the ideal place to take a dip and relax.
Compete on Vintage Pinball Machines
Tim Arnold is the owner of the Pinball Hall of Fame, and, over time, has managed to collect over 1000 different pinball machines, dating from the 1950’s to the 1990’s. This is a great place to visit if you want to do something quirky for a couple of hours, and you can rest assured that all of the money that you spend playing on the pinball machines and arcade games will go to non-denominational charities.
Enjoy a Hawaiian Feast
While you may already have a list of restaurants that you want to visit in Vegas, it is unlikely that you have any Hawaiian joints on there. Visitors do not realize that Vegas has quite a large Hawaiian population, and this means that there are some fantastic places to eat an authentic Hawaiian feast. One of OROGOLD’s favorite Hawaiian restaurants in Vegas is Aloha Kitchen, whose menu features everything from light and tasty snacks to hearty daily specials.
Visit a Speakeasy
The glamor of Vegas makes it the perfect place to take a trip back in time and visit a speakeasy. The Laundry Room can be found in Downtown Las Vegas, and seats just 28 people. Reservations are made by sending a text message to a ‘secret’ number, after which you are given instructions on where to meet the host on arrival. The menu features classic drinks as well as some unique cocktails, and the part that OROGOLD loves the most is that the mixologists are more than happy to create an off-menu drink for you if you aren’t quite sure what to order.
Hang out with Locals at First Friday Las Vegas
First Friday Las Vegas is a monthly event that sees food trucks and arts and craft stalls all gather together in downtown Las Vegas. This is definitely a vibrant and exciting place to spend a Friday morning, and you are likely to come away with some fantastic souvenirs. If you are driving, OROGOLD warns you that parking can often be difficult, and it may make more sense to make use of the free shuttle buses provided.
Taking advantage of some of the more unusual Las Vegas activities available will make you appreciate the city in a completely different way. From the down-to-earth arty vibe of First Friday Las Vegas to a huge museum filled with nothing but arcade games, these quirky activities will be sure to make your Las Vegas trip even more memorable.
