Florida has so much to offer, and, even if you only have a few days to spare, it is still well worth visiting more than one destination. For those who are hoping to check out both Tampa as well as Miami Beach, this is a three-day itinerary, which begins in Tampa, that showcases all of the best sights.
Day 1
Tampa is home to everything from big-name attractions to local gems, and since you only have one full day to spend here, you will definitely not be short of things to do. Florida is known for its sea life, so a great way to start the day is with a visit to the Florida Aquarium, or even a Wild Dolphin Cruise, where you will be able to watch bottlenose dolphins splashing around in their natural habitat. The nearby St. Pete Pier is a great place to grab some lunch and spend the afternoon, and if you find yourself still here by the evening, there are some sunset cruises on offer that will take you right into the Gulf of Mexico.
Day 2 Morning
Today is the day where you will be flying from Tampa to Miami, and since the flight is only an hour long, this still gives you the morning to spend in Tampa. Heading over to the Tampa Riverwalk is the perfect way to spend a couple of hours, as this two and a half mile trail is not only filled with incredible scenery, but also captivating facets of history. You will also be passing by the Tampa Art Museum, which is well worth stopping off at if you have some extra time.
Day 2 Afternoon
Once you arrive at Miami Airport, it is only a twenty minute drive to Miami Beach, giving you the rest of the evening to explore your surroundings. The best way to spend your evening is by heading to one of the city’s famous sunset spots, where you will also be able to enjoy a tasty dinner. From the Sunset Lounge at the Mondrian South Beach to Smith & Wollensky, where you can sip on cocktails with an ocean backdrop, this is a beautiful and relaxing way to round up your day.
Day 3
With only one day in Miami Beach, it can be tempting to try to cram in as many activities as possible, but you need to be sure to leave enough time for each, so that you can really enjoy them without feeling rushed. For those who want to soak up some culture, spend the morning in the Art Deco District, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is home to over 800 historic landmarks. When it comes time for lunch, head on over to South Beach’s Nikki Beach, where you can enjoy a luxurious meal in a stylish beach club setting. South Beach is famous for being one of the best vacation spots in Florida, and there are plenty of other attractions to be found here, making this a great area in which to spend the afternoon. Whether you head over to Jungle Island to see the animals, indulge in some retail therapy, or simply relax on one of the cleanest beaches in the country, an afternoon at South Beach will beautifully round off your three day trip.
While three days is not much time to explore both Tampa as well as Miami Beach, it can definitely be done, and will give you a great taster of what to expect if you are hoping to return. From the world-renowned beaches of Miami Beach to the exciting sea life viewing opportunities of Tampa, this itinerary makes the most of what both of these destinations have to offer.
