Northbrook is an affluent community located close to Cook County, Illinois. It is a North Shore suburb of Chicago that boasts of a population of almost 33000 people. The community was incorporated in the year 1901 and was initially known as Shermerville, in the honor of Frederick Schermer, the man who donated land for the train station. The village changed its name to Northbrook in order to enhance its public image. The reason for the name was that the North Branch of the Chicago River ran through the village. Despite being a small community, Northbrook is home to a number of popular landmarks such as the Northbrook Court Shopping Mall, Northbrook Public Library and Ed Rudolph Velodrome.
Northbrook is considered to be an extremely special place to live, work and visit. It boasts of an extremely rich history that dates back all the way to the year 1840. It transformed itself from a sleepy little village into an extremely affluent business community that boasts of magnificent industrial parks, office developments and beautiful residences. The Metratrain system connects the community to Downtown Chicago and it lies at a distance of just 20 minutes from the O’Hare Airport.

The Northbrook Court Shopping Mall is considered to be the center of attraction when it comes to dining. The Willow Festival is yet another attraction that offers 400000 sq. ft. of space, major brands and a number of anchors such as Best Buy, DSW Shoes and Whole Foods. The dining scene is worth mentioning simply due to the fact that you can find almost any cuisine you wish to eat in Northbrook.
Northbrook is home to 30 different houses of worship which represent the different communities that live in peaceful coexistence here. The multi-cultural society makes it an ideal place for those looking for a fusion of cultures and intermingled experiences.
