Being one of the largest, and most diverse, countries in the world means that the US has plenty of attractions, both natural and man-made. However, as summer approaches and the intense heat plays havoc on the skin and the body, many of the outdoor attractions in the US become unbearably uncomfortable, especially between 11am and 4pm – the hottest hours of the day. For this reason, OROGOLD has rounded up some of the best indoor attractions in the US, helping to keep you cool, protected from the sun, and entertained at the same time.

Zero-G Experience
For those of you who have always dreamed of experiencing the sense of weightlessness, like you would do in space, the Zero-G experience is definitely for you. The experience takes you up in a specially modified Boeing 727, which then performs specific acrobatic manoeuvres, known as parabolas, which allow you to experience the feeling of being completely weightless. In addition to the zero gravity experience, you also have the opportunity to try out Lunar gravity, at one-sixth of your body weight, and Martian gravity, at one-third of your body weight. There are four primary locations where the flights take off from, with two in Florida, one in Nevada and one in California, but throughout the year, special flights are scheduled in many other cities, giving you all the opportunity to try out this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Hershey’s Chocolate Factory Tour, Pennsylvania
Located inside Hershey’s Chocolate World in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the Hershey’s Chocolate Factory Tour, although not of a working factory, is still well worth the visit. Entrance is free, and visitors can take the tour as many times as they like. Unlike a usual guided, walking tour, the tour of the Hershey’s Chocolate Factory is carried out via a fairground-style ride, with a continuous chain of amusement cars. The factory, a mix between reality and Willy Wonka, is absolutely fascinating, and will delight both children and adults. At the end of the tour, you are given a free chocolate bar, and are able to purchase some of the many wonderful goods on sale at the shop.

Unclaimed Baggage Center, Alabama
This may seem like an unusual choice for the list, but since the Unclaimed Baggage Center in Alabama, a store the size of a city block, is the only lost luggage store in the US, OROGOLD thought it was worth the mention. After holding unclaimed baggage for 90 days, this is where many airlines end up sending the goods. It feels slightly like a thrift store, but after some rummaging, you will definitely uncover some great bargains. From laptops and cameras to designer luggage, you never know what you may find, and all for a tiny fraction of the retail price!

From experiencing the feeling of weightlessness to rummaging through unclaimed baggage, these indoor attractions will keep you entertained and occupied during the hottest hours of the day. However, even if you are able to spend plenty of time indoors, OROGOLD reminds you of the importance of wearing sunscreen at all times.
