No matter how many shows you plan to attend this season at New York Fashion Week, there will always be enough time between and after shows for you to make the most of all that the city has to offer. For the best advice on where to eat, drink and stay during this busy week, take a look at OROGOLD’s city guide for New York Fashion Week.
Where to Eat
All breakfasts during New York Fashion Week are usually accompanied with some coffee, which is why OROGOLD recommends Blue Bottle Coffee at Milk Studios on W 15th Street, ideal for a quick morning pick-me—up on your way to your first show. Those of you who are after something healthier and gluten-free should visit Bluestone Lane on Greenwich Avenue and give their buckwheat banana bread a try. When it comes time to unwind in the evenings over a hearty meal, look no further than Frankies Spuntino on Hudson Street. This intimate restaurant is cozy but extremely chic, and serves up some of the best Italian food around. For something slightly different, OROGOLD recommends Santina on Washington Street, which serves up some of the tastiest seafood dishes in the city.
Where to Drink
New York is full of different bars, but one of OROGOLD‘s favorites is Bar Goto, a minimal but warm Japanese bar. The Japanese-influenced cocktails are definitely not to be missed, as they make brilliant use of traditional ingredients, including green tea, cherry blossoms and miso. For something more glitzy, where you are likely to bump into some of the fashion week crowd, OROGOLD suggests The Bar at the Baccarat Hotel, an opulent venue with hanging chandeliers and crystal-cut tumblers. Or, you could always pay a visit to Bodega Negra, where guests take a seat among vintage tequila barrels and Spanish guitars, enjoying unique cocktails such as spiced celery sours. Bodega Negra also serves up some delicious food – the pork belly carnitas are not to be missed!
Where to Stay
The Empire Hotel is right across the street from the Lincoln Center, where many of the runway shows will be held, making it the ideal place to stay during New York Fashion Week. This hotel has always been popular with designers, models and celebrities, who all flock to the rooftop bar for a celebratory drink, making it one of the hottest nightlife spots in the city. Of course, it also doesn’t hurt that the rooms ooze sophistication and luxury, and are kitted out with the finest amenities. For another hotel that’s a favorite amongst celebrities, take a look at Gansevoort Park Avenue. This hotel’s outdoor heated pool makes it extremely popular, as it is open throughout the year.
New York Fashion Week is one of the most exciting fashion weeks around the world to attend, not only because of the incredible talent on show, but also because of everything else that the city has to offer. No matter what you may be after, you can be sure that New York will be able to provide it.
