Located in Düsseldorf, Germany, the Königsallee, which is often affectionately referred to as Ko for short, is an urban boulevard that is known for its shopping and nightlife. From its luxury designer boutiques to its trendy bars and clubs, this is an area in which those visiting Düsseldorf will definitely want to spend a bit of time.

Shopping
When it comes to shopping on the Ko, there is so much to choose from, with everything from independent designer boutiques to shopping malls filled with luxury flagship stores. The malls are plentiful and include Galeria Kaufhof, Schadow Arkaden, the Ko Galerie, the Ko Center, Sevens and Ko-Bogen, all of which will no doubt easily fill up your day. Some of the international fashion brands that you will find along the Ko include Burberry, Escada, Jimmy Choo and Salvatore Ferragamo, although you will also see local names such as Dorothee Schumacher and C. Wirschke. If you are seeking out a few new pieces for your home, head to Franzen, while those looking for cosmetics can check out Stadtparfumerie Pieper, which stocks a wide range of exclusive brands, as well as Beauty Affair for a fantastic array of niche perfumes. There are also a few bookstores that are worth checking out, such as Hollmann Press and Press-Pavillon.

Restaurants and Bars
While there are a few different restaurants and bars to choose from on the Ko, Tino’s Bar is always one of the most popular. This exclusive piano bar is open from Mondays to Saturdays, and features live music, as well as delicious international cuisine, every day. Alternatively, for those who are seeking out one-of-a-kind Mediterranean fare, have a meal at La Terrazza, where the classic menu is constantly evolving based on seasonal produce and ingredients. All of the dishes served up here are freshly prepared, and this is something that the restaurant really prides itself on.

The Nachtresidenz Düsseldorf
The Nachtresidenz Düsseldorf originally opened its doors in 1907 as a residence theatre, and, a few years later, became a cinema. However, since 2000, the Nachtresidenz Düsseldorf turned itself into a nightclub, and one of the hottest ones in the city at that. With over 1800 square meters of space, this club still retains its original features, showcasing the incredible architecture that it sported when it used to be a theatre. There are four main areas within the club, and these are the foyer, the fire place, the club and the domed hall, the latter of which is usually the highlight of the experience for guests. From house and dance to soul and R&B, the music played here is varied, and you will usually find top international DJs spinning special sets at Nachtresidenz Düsseldorf.

For those spending some time in Düsseldorf, you will no doubt end up at the Ko at some point. Whether you are simply passing through and are having a quick browse, or make a day of it with shopping, eating, drinking and dancing, you will soon see why this is considered to be one of the most vibrant areas of the city.
