5 Reasons to Visit Palm Desert in March

//5 Reasons to Visit Palm Desert in March

With a climate that is mostly sunny and dry all year round, it is no surprise that Palm Desert is a highly popular destination for short breaks and longer vacations. March is a great month to visit the area – not only is the weather slightly cooler than the intense heat of the summer, but there are also a whole variety of events and festivals being held, from fashion shows to food festivals.

This March will see the county playing host to the 5th annual Food and Wine Festival Palm Desert. The most talented and innovative chefs from around the country will gather here for three days of food and wine tasting, with 50 different restaurants showcasing their signature dishes. For the wine lovers out there, the festival will have at least 80 premium wines and champagnes on offer, with experts on standby to talk you through the varieties.

For all of you fashionistas, the 10th annual Fashion Week El Paseo is also taking place in March, and is definitely not to be missed. As well as the catwalk shows featuring the work of up and coming designers, the whole area will be transformed into a fashion paradise, with trunk shows, informal modelling, free makeovers and much more.

For something slightly different, head over to the Palm Desert Empire Polo Club, where you can enjoy watching a game of polo each Sunday in March. There are two games scheduled each Sunday, and admission is free for the bleachers, but if you would like something a bit more private, you can book a cabana or one of the VIP areas. With tasty food and a variety of drinks available at the club, you can spend a leisurely afternoon watching a thrilling sport.

If you want to experience another culture, then the Palm Desert’s 19th annual Greek Festival is being held in March. Enjoy a taste of Greece with Greek cuisine, speciality wines and beers, live music, traditional folk dancing, and much more. There will be souvenirs for sale, as well as a Greek grocery, where you can purchase some uncommon items and try to recreate delicious Greek dishes at home.

For a festival of a different kind, the Rhythm, Wine and Brews Experience is also taking place in March. This festival, which offers overnight camping for those of you who want to truly immerse yourself in the experience, is a clever concoction of live music, craft beer, and speciality wine blends. Featuring an eclectic lineup and offering a beer and wine tasting session, this event is guaranteed to be lively and entertaining.

With so many events featuring food and drink, take part in the Desert Triathlon to work off all the calories. Held at the picturesque Lake Cahuilla, just 30 minutes from the center of Palm Springs, the race course is fun and has a gorgeous backdrop of the Santa Rose Mountains. For something slightly less intense, Hike 4 Hope is a hiking event organised by a non-profit charity and is aimed at hikers of all levels.

There is such a huge variety of events and activities taking place in Palm Desert this March, so make sure to plan your visit carefully if there are a few different ones that you want to attend. With a beautiful natural setting and such a friendly atmosphere, everyone is bound to find something that they will truly enjoy, and make memories that will last for a lifetime.
